Boat Service Tracker — Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 5, 2026
Boat Service Tracker ("the app") is a boat maintenance log published by Chinese Powered ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and by whom. The short version: your boat records stay on your device. We run no servers, hold no accounts and never see your records. The only data collection comes from the advertising and purchase services described below.
Data stored on your device only
Everything you enter — your boats and engines, hour-meter readings, the maintenance schedule, service entries with their parts, costs, notes and shops, checklists, and your settings — is saved in the app's private storage on your device. Photos, receipts and documents you add are copied into that same private storage. We never see any of it; the app does not upload it anywhere. Deleting the app deletes this data. (It may be included in your phone's own device backups, which follow your Apple or Google backup settings.)
The app has no accounts and no sign-in.
Camera, photos and files
The app asks for camera or photo-library access only when you choose to add a photo or a receipt, and opens the files picker only when you choose a PDF or a backup file. Pictures are resized and copied into the app's private storage; nothing is uploaded. You can deny or revoke these permissions in your device settings and keep using everything else.
Exports and backups
A PDF service record, a spreadsheet (CSV) export or a backup file is created on your device and handed to your phone's share sheet. Where it goes next — Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, an email, a buyer or a surveyor — is your choice and is handled by the app or service you pick. We never receive a copy.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob: a small banner, an occasional full-screen ad after you save a service (never on your first day), and rewarded videos you choose to watch for a free PDF export. Boat Service Tracker Pro removes them. When an ad is requested, Google's SDK may collect device information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from it, and ad-interaction data, used for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. Google's SDK also collects diagnostic and performance data (such as crash and SDK-performance logs) to keep ads working. Ad requests never include your boat records.
Tracking. If you allow it, Google uses your device's advertising identifier to show you personalized ads and to measure them across apps and websites owned by other companies — what Apple calls tracking. On iOS that happens only if you tap "Allow" on the App Tracking Transparency prompt the app shows after setup (change your mind any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking). On Android you can reset or delete the advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device's Google settings.
- Consent: where required (EEA, UK, Switzerland), Google's consent form is shown first, and no ad is requested until Google's consent tools say one may be. If you don't consent to personalized ads, the ads you see are non-personalized. Where the form applies, the app's Settings screen has an "Ad privacy options" row that reopens it.

Purchases (App Store / Google Play + RevenueCat)
Payment for Boat Service Tracker Pro is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. To validate purchases and keep Pro working (including "Restore purchases"), the app uses RevenueCat as a service provider. RevenueCat receives purchase receipts and a random per-install identifier — not your name, email, payment information or boat records — and processes them on our behalf.
The free version also reports its ad activity to RevenueCat, tied to that same random identifier: which kinds of ads were loaded, shown and tapped, and what they earned. It's how we see whether the free version pays its way; it contains nothing you've entered in the app. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Notifications
If you turn reminders on and grant notification permission, the app schedules local, on-device notifications: a heads-up before a service comes due, a nudge to read the hour meter, and — if you start a Pro free trial — a reminder before it renews. No push-notification server is involved. Turn them off any time in the app's Settings or in your device settings.
Analytics
The app has no analytics SDK of its own, and we never see what you do in it. Data about your use of the app leaves your device only as described above: ad interactions and diagnostics (Google AdMob), ad activity and purchase events (RevenueCat).
How long data is kept, and deleting it
- Your records stay on your device until you erase them ("Erase all data" in the app's Settings) or delete the app. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.
- Google AdMob keeps ad data for the periods set out in Google's retention policy. Resetting or deleting your advertising ID breaks the link to data collected before.
- RevenueCat keeps purchase records and the random identifier for as long as needed to provide Pro and to meet legal and tax obligations. To have what it holds about your install deleted, email us (below) with your store and roughly when you bought Pro, and we'll make the request on your behalf.
Third parties
Google and RevenueCat process data under their own privacy policies and their agreements with us, which require them to protect it at least as well as this policy describes. We don't sell your data, and we share nothing beyond what is described here.
This website
boat.chinesepowered.com is a static page. It loads Google AdSense, which may set cookies and collect data as described in Google's policies linked above. On a phone, the page may send you on to the App Store or Google Play.
Children
Boat Service Tracker is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

- Notifications: turn them off in the app's Settings, or in your device settings.
- Subscription: manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Changes
If a future version changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that version ships, with the date above revised.
